Australian women directors making films about East Asia are encouraged
to apply for the Solrun Hoaas Documentary Award.

Solrun Hoaas made films in Australia from the 1980s. Her interests lay in
Japan, where she grew up, and in Australia’s connections to East Asia.
Solrun wrote, produced and directed several Japan-related films, including
the feature film AYA (1990), and in later years turned her attention to
Korea and more political content in PYONGYANG DIARIES (1997) and
RUSHING TO SUNSHINE (2001).
