The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) and the Seven Network today announced their decision to extend their current Melbourne Cup Carnival free-to-air telecasting agreement for a further six (6) years. The current agreement expires in March 2007.

Last year, a National poll conducted by Roy Morgan Polls revealed that more than 10 million Australians (63% of Australians aged 14 and over) watched the race that stops a nation, the Emirates Melbourne Cup, live and more than 14 million Australians (85%) watched the Emirates Melbourne Cup live or by replay. Significant viewing audiences
were also achieved for the other days of the 2005 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
