The ABC’s National Security Correspondent, Leigh Sales has won the 2007 George Munster Journalism Award for her book Detainee 002: the Case of David Hicks. To be celebrated by a panel which could be very uncomfortable for Michael Duffy, who will speak on ‘From the Tampa via Hicks to Haneef: have the politics of fear lost their bite?’.

The award recognises independent journalism and is given by the Centre for Independent Journalism at the University of Technology Sydney. The award acknowledges the memory of George Munster, co-founder of The Nation and one of Australia’s most respected freelance journalists until his death in 1984.
