The Adelaide Film Festival is sad to announce that Garin Nugroho, director of the operatic marvel OPERA JAWA has this week cancelled his trip to the festival. Nugroho’s house is currently under threat by the serious flooding taking place in Jakarta.
Ironically, Garin actually lost his last home in the devastating Yogjakarta earthquake last year – and in fact every building viewers see in OPERA JAWA no longer exist – all destroyed by the earthquake.
