Comedy Film Festival: all clogged up with yer actual smile

This is a good press release. Like all good things it breaks the rules. Like the rule that a European can't make us laugh in our own idiom.

G’Day All!
I was handing out flyers at a backpackers place in Fremantle when this bloke asked me to tell a joke because I was from the Over The Fence Comedy Film Festival. Well, I said, why don’t you tell a joke? And I dared him.
He told me this joke:
“What do you call a Greek falling out of a plane?’
“Con descending”
Well, as I am not an ozzie, – I’m a Dutchie – I didn’t understand the joke (and I bet it was not funny anyway,.. or was it… ), so I asked him to tell another one – to give him another chance.
The joke went something like this:
What is the difference between men and women? A woman wants the man to satisfy all her needs,’ and men want all women to satisfy his one need.
Ok, this one I could understand and chuckled. It was funny, and the joke had a “gooood” sense of humour. Even if this joke had the potential to be funny it could never be a film. So after he finished laughing about his own joke I told him:
“Listen maate’, why don’t you come to the 10th Over The Fence Comedy Film Festival this year and check out the best film humour! We are screening around Australia from May till December 2006. And hey, because you got so inspired by the name of our festival, you should come along to the opening night at Luna Cinema (Leederville) on Sunday the 30 of April”.
He was flabbergasted, but he decided to take the challenge to compare his chuckle jokes with the humour of our short and bought a ticket right then.
So…. folks, the moral of this tale is that you might know what humour means to you, but Over The Fence challenges you with humour and stories you may never have thought about! So here’s your opportunity to see 18 Australian short comedy films with excellent humour to inspire and surprise. Come to one of our 30 + screenings “aaroun ‘d’ nashion” and celebrate the anniversary of the 10th Over The Fence Comedy Film Festival.
It’s “coming for ya – hahahahaha”,
The Austrialian ‘Dutchie’
