When you are a penguin who is supposed to sing, sound is pretty important – and no less so if you tap dance better than you sing.
Which is why Atlab was chosen for the sound mix for Kennedy Miller’s Happy Feet, in their new and extensively upgraded Mowbray Road mixing theatre.
Premixing for some scenes and the early teaser trailers started in late 2005, after Atlab had upgraded its Harrison 12 mixing desk to manage 300 input channels – a record for any film mix in Australia, but necessary for the complex musical score as well as the dialogue and effects in the fully animated film. The system was also upgraded to output the sound in Dolby EX format.
