The 2011 edition of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards was held on the Gold Coast last night, with a hefty shift to the western side of the continent. The big prize went to Iranian film Jodaeiye Nader az Simin/A Separation. Unusually for Iranian filmmakers recently, director Asghar Farhadi was allowed out of his homeland to be present at the ceremony.

Films from the European edge of Asia, and one from well-known Asian country Sweden, dominated the winners’ list by the end of the night.
