Morry Schwartz, Chairman of the Australian Film Institute announced today the appointment of former Macquarie banker, Jennifer Hughes as Acting CEO of the Australian Film Institute. Hughes will head up the organisation until incomingCEO, James Hewison, officially takes up the post later in the year.

Hughes, who is also an AFI board member, was until recently the Executive Vice-
President of Macquarie Filmed Investments, a division of Macquarie Bank, where
she managed $60 million of concessional capital which generated over $110 mill.
of film and TV production. Prior to joining Macquarie, Hughes held senior
positions at Southern Star Group, Virgin Vision, Sony Music, Warner Music and
EMI Music Publishing.
