Providing a platform for First Nations Peoples’ voices and stories, through film, it will contribute to the process of truth-telling and help to build understanding amongst non-Indigenous people of the culture, connection to country and resilience of Aboriginal People, and of the issues faced by them. The objectives of the SFNFF are: to collaborate with local First Nations communities in presenting the Shoalhaven First Nations Film Festival to showcase the work of Indigenous filmmakers from around Australia, telling their own stories, to Shoalhaven’s First Nations communities to broaden understanding amongst a non-Indigenous audience of First Nations culture, connection to place, resilience and contribution to modern Australia to use any net proceeds from the festival to support local Indigenous students to become storytellers through film and to help lay the foundations for the 2025 First Nations Film Festival. The Shoalhaven First Nations Film Festival (SFNFF) celebrates First Nations producers, directors, screenwriters, actors and communities, both within the Shoalhaven and across Australia.
