Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production

For the next generation of content creators

Screen stories are changing the world. From streaming to virtual reality and global cinema releases, they are shaping the way we think and feel about the world around us. There has never been such demand for screen content, and the AFTRS Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production aims to give you the skills to seize this opportunity.

This course is full-time over three years and is designed for students with a passion and commitment to creating stories that are powerful and distinctively Australian. We’re eager to work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds who are imaginative, collaborative, and keen to develop their voice as Australian storytellers and contribute to the cultural and industrial landscape.

AFTRS’ Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production has been developed in response to the needs of employers across the sector. The film, television and creative industries are looking for multi-skilled, adaptable content creators who are comfortable working in a variety of creative roles and can produce content across platforms.

The course is split into eight interrelated pillars of screen storytelling – Story, Image, Sound, Screen Studies, Character and Performance, Rhythm and Juxtaposition, Screen Business, and Production – each one designed to explore and model current industry practice.

As a Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production student, you will combine theory and practice to explore ideas through your own projects. During the course, you will work on several learning production exercises and conduct regular mini exercises.
