Key reporting oufit Indiewire pointed out, 2017 is truly the year of the streaming service, as Amazon Studios and Netflix pumped money into the indie sector through overblown deals.

Netflix bought Berlin Syndrome, Cate Shortland’s film, before it even opened for a low to mid seven figure figure, a meaningless number which may be better described by a formula believed by some Australian producers. Work out the total budget, extract the Offset, and pony up the rest.
