Box Office 17 October – one Australian film released in quiet week

Joe Cinque's Consolation is said to be attracting audiences on its fourteen screens, though there are no official figures.

We have no figures for Joe Cinque’s Consolation, the film about Anu Singh and her horrid murder of her lover. Producer John L. Simpson has put it out on around 14 screens with a strong campaign of Q&As which sold out in some locations. It is a film really worth talking about, partly because it is a true story, rather than ‘based on a true story’ so Sotiris Dounoukos did not turn this into pure genre.
