Away from Sydney and its festival sparkle, new Australian releases have been scarce lately. Now Downriver from Grant Scicluna and Jannine Barnes has made it to the cinemas, and is on at the Nova and The Lido in Hawthorn. Challenging in a good way, with some of the key images of 2015, the picture has a small determined legion of people who really got the aesthetic.
