Oscars 2016 – all the entrails are now on the table

Sherpa was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Documentary – a significant honour when the world is crammed with good feature docs. It won at the London Film Festival but the wider UK industry preferred Amy.

Despite attempts by subsidiary competitions to set up as Oscar precursors, the biggies are the BAFTAs and The Golden Globes, while the actors and the DGA make bids for their specialised areas and the craft guilds can be eccentric.
