The St Kilda Film Festival, pride and joy of the local Port Phillip Council, has been ironically chased around the suburb by the lack of venues. Now it has even been caught up in the slow motion drama about the future of the historic Astor Cinema.
The lease on the Astor is now held by Palace, which is refurbishing it before a launch in June. Sadly, the film festival uses the Astor as a base, in exile from the former George Cinema, which has now become a sort of live theatre.
