Thom Powers turned out to be a human insight machine, full of snappy lines which condense his huge knowledge of the international documentary festival and conference scene. After all, the New York Times called him a kingmaker for documentaries, as as artistic director of DOC NYC, and programmer for TIFF, and curator of the SundanceNOW Doc Club. Who better to provide an overview?
