Australian Box Office: how do we value our films?

How do we decide if a film is successful? How do we beat off the mingy minded creatures who gloat over low box office?

How do we assess the success of Australian feature films? Babadook provides a classic example of the problems.

The film took $264,705 at the local box office, but US$2,036m in the UK and US$1.092m in France. In the US, it has done all of US$123,926 so far.
