Artemis International, run by Brian Beaton and Celia Tait, is known for six series of Who Do You Think You Are, and a host of single documentaries which are solidly in the public interest. It is great work, craft driven and careful, focused outwardly on audiences and broadcasters.
But underneath this, Celia Tait was wrestling with issues in her personal life which can leave people sobbing with rage and frustration into their pillows late at night. Her 33 year old step-son has a brain injury from being hit by a car, and came into her life ‘not long after he was walking and talking again’, in her own grave, self effacing words.
