The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) proudly presents the 2014 season of Fashion on Film in conjunction with Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) from Saturday 30 August to Sunday 7 September 2014. From the inner sanctum of Gucci’s mastermind, to the runways of Paris and the Old World craft of men’s tailoring, this year’s festival celebrates the many incarnations of style.

Opening the season is the Australian premiere of The Director: An Evolution in Three Acts, which takes audiences beyond the walls of Gucci’s fashion powerhouse to the intimate world of its creative director, Frida Giannini. Filmmaker, Christina Voros focuses her lens on Giannini and surrounding family, team and models (including James Franco, who also produced the documentary) as Gucci’s collections come to life in show-stopping parades around the world. Filmed over the course of 18 months, The Director: An Evolution in Three Acts delves into the inspiration behind this unassuming, though brilliant woman as she reflect on her meteoric rise to the top job.
