Chris Sun wrote the script for Charlie’s Farm about four years ago. He explained although Australia is “well known for making great horrors, we’ve never brought out a film like Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, etcetera, and I wanted to make a film that was along that line of filmmaking.”  He explained that the script was written with actor Nathan Jones (Conan, Troy, Mad Max: Fury Road) in mind for the lead role, because “I wanted to have someone really frickin’ tall, and really big and really scary.”
