Speaking from The Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival in Winton, producer Bill Leimbach explained that he had made a documentary for the 100th anniversary of the song Waltzing Matilda in 1995 for Channel Seven. Bill was particularly interested in one section of the documentary, the love story between Banjo and a woman called Christina Macpherson. Christina had supplied the tune for the song, and Banjo had supplied the lyrics.
