Every Melbourne filmmaker, and the bayside glitterati of  Port Phillip, has one experience in common. The iconic Palais Cinema is lit up like an Art Deco starship, searchlights stab the sky, and nipples and scrota shrivel in the cold.  The rain may even be driving across the forecourt as the town’s Sofisticats struggle to find each other. Trouble is, we all look like a job lot of  black tea-cosies blown around in the dark.
