Bob Hoskins “died peacefully in hospital last night, surrounded by family, following a bout of pneumonia”, in the words of his wife Linda. He is being celebrated as one of the truly fine actors of his culture and generation. In 1978, he starred in Pennies from Heaven, which revealed his range and strength to a wider audience for the first time.
