One of the niftiest features of the Asia Pacific Film Awards is its development fund, which provides four tranches of US$25,000 in a region where screen art is really tough and script support is very thin on the ground.
The scheme is a joint venture between APSA and the Motion Picture Association, ultimately headquartered in the US and funded by the big six Hollywood studios. Its annual US$100,000 is put to good use by regional filmmakers.
