Antony I.Ginnane, exhibition statistician extraordinaire, tells us what actually happened when Australian films hit the international cinema marketplace. From Gatsby to 100 Bloody Acres and back to Mao’s Last Dancer, Ginnane’s records reveal a world of pain and occasional joy.

This is the seventh annual round up of the international theatrical performances of Australian films released in the period from January 1 – December 31 2013.While the debate continues to rage about the relevance of theatrical box office as an indicator of success and the ultimate all media result, the theatrical box office performance still heavily drives ancillaries – notwithstanding the new relevance of premium VOD and VOD in the US and conventional VOD in many international territories.

His Australian production company F G Film Productions (Australia) Pty. Ltd. is in preproduction on feature film The Chainbreakers. He was President of SPAA from 2008 - 2011, attends the major world markets and is based in Los Angeles and Melbourne. “The Unusual Suspects – 104 Films That Made World Cinema” his first book was published by Currency Press in November 2015.
