While the major distributors at AIMC peddle major films to major exhibition chains in a hall of mirrors, the independent distributors hoist their own flag at a pleasant dinner to announce their own awards. After all, they claim to distribute 75% of the funded features made by Australians.

The Australian Independent Distributors’ Association Incorporated (“AIDA”) describes itself as “a not-for-profit association representing independent film distributors in Australia, being film distributors who are not owned or controlled by a major Australian film exhibitor or a major U.S. film studio or a non-Australian person.”
