Australian comedy series Wilfred, already successfully adapted for the US, will now become a Russian series as well.

Joe Connor’s Renegade Films has finalised a deal with Ukraine-based Star Media Group, which will see the series retitled Charlie .

Wilfred was created as a Tropfest entry by Adam Zwar and Jason Gann back in 2002, before being picked up as a television series by SBS. It launched as a series in the US on the FX channel in 2011 (starring Gann alongside Elijah Wood) and that version has just been commissioned for a fourth season.
