As Australian lawyer and China-watcher Mathew Alderson explains, the market for films in China is evolving at breathtaking speed. Village Roadshow has committed to the ecology, as the industry beyond China begins to feel the effects of the ultimate charismatic filmmaking megafauna.

Mathew Alderson, an Australian entertainment lawyer at US firm Harris Moure Attorneys, took the plunge into Beijing completely in 2009. So completely that his two children are at a local school, being taught entirely in Mandarin, and thriving.
