Presented by Open Channel with the support of Film Victoria, SHORT & SHARP PRO will provide an opportunity for emerging producers to attend a 2 day workshop to learn how to pitch yourself and your production business.

This year – SHORT & SHARP PRO will take on a slightly different role in the overall SHORT & SHARP process. One producer from SHORT & SHARP PRO will be teamed up with the winning project from the SHORT & SHARP PITCHING COMPETITION to pitch at the SPAA /Holding Redlich National Pitching Competition in November.
THE WORKSHOP
Day One: Participants will explore what it takes to be a successful producer at the creative, business and practical levels. You will learn how to pitch yourself as someone with the capacity to develop and realize a range of projects, and who can run a production business.
Day Two: Participants will work on a 10 minute pitch with the workshop mentors. At the end of the day you will present your pitch to a panel of industry professionals. A winner will be chosen to attend the SPAA / Holding Redlich Pitching Competition in November to apply your producer skills in pitching the winning project from the Short & Sharp Pitching Competition.
WORKSHOP MENTORS
TIM FERGUSON: Tim Ferguson is an iconic Australian comedian, producer and screenwriter. He toured internationally with comedy trio the Doug Anthony Allstars (DAAS) and is Australia’s foremost narrative comedy teacher. He has written for dozens of comedy and entertainment TV series in Australia and Britain. Tim is the author of The Cheeky Monkey – Writing Narrative Comedy (Currency Press) and the memoir Carry a Big Stick – A funny, fearless life of friendship, laughter and MS (Hachette) to be released in October 2013.
STEPHEN LUBY: Stephen Luby is one of Australia’s most respected Producers, with over 20 years experience across a variety of genres, including features, television drama and comedy, light entertainment and documentary. Stephen’s credits includes the features Crackerjack and Bad Eggs, sketch comedies Full Frontal and Big Girl’s Blouse, telemovies Stiff and The Brush Off, and drama series Bed of Roses.
