THE PITCH IS BACK! Entries for the 2013 SHORT & SHARP PITCHING COMPETITION in Warrnambool and Ballarat are now open. Presented by Open Channel with the support of Film Victoria, SHORT & SHARP invites screenwriters, directors and producers to submit a short treatment for a screen-based project.

Entries close 5.00pm Tuesday 24th of September 2013

All you need is a great idea. You can pitch any genre, format or duration: from TV series and feature films to shorts, animation, documentary and transmedia. A shortlist of entrants will be invited to meet with Open Channel’s Short & Sharp producer to discuss their projects. From there a small group of finalists will be selected to present their pitch to a live audience and a judging panel of industry heavyweights on Thursday 3rd October for Warrnambool and Tuesday 8th October for Ballarat.

Open Channel Executive Director Marc Gracie commented, “There’s nothing like Short & Sharp in Victoria. Pitching is a fundamental skill in the screen industry and Short & Sharp is the only avenue in Victoria for aspiring and emerging screenwriters and content creators to develop their pitching skills. Short & Sharp does this in a number of ways. You can present an original project for feedback from leading screen industry professionals as well as audience feedback. Or you can come along to the Final and see what it takes to pitch a project and find out what producers are looking for.”

The winners of the two regional finals (Warrnambool and Ballarat) will each receive a $500 cash prize, and one winner will be selected to join the 4 Short & Sharp metro finalists to pitch at the Short & Sharp Pitching Competition in Melbourne on the 1st November. The winning pitch from that competition will be pitched at the SPAA/Holding Redlich Pitching Competition in November.
