As he leaves his national stage for the last time, Jonathan Holmes demonstrates that his judious calm is not just a professional persona for Media Watch – he really is very considered under appalling moral stress.

Before Jonathan Holmes came to Australia in 1982 to run Four Corners, he had learnt his craft in a tough school. He graduated from Cambridge, became a BBC trainee, worked in the Current Affairs Group, and spent five years on Panorama as Margaret Thatcher came to power and tore into the deep structure of British society.
