Paths cross and tangle in fascinating ways in our industry, with teams of talent grouping and regrouping in different combinations over the decades. Cinematographer Martin McGrath ACS is a case in point.

The first feature he shot was the stylish and award-winning Proof (1991), with his friends Jocelyn Moorhouse and PJ Hogan. McGrath’s girlfriend and future wife, Heather Mitchell, acted in the film as the mother of a blind child, who was played by an eight- year-old Jeffrey Walker. Twenty years down the track, McGrath frequently works with Walker, all grown up now and an in-demand director – on television projects like Jack Irish, Dance Academy and Rake.
