While the industry gathered for the Canberra policy day is pretty happy with the figures for Gatsby, with a $500m total confidently predicted, we still figure the grip on the local box office is a bit shaky. Meanwhile, The Sapphires hits a fine milestone.

First up, the plucky local contender. The Sapphires has taken $19,917,682 in USD, according to Box Office Mojo. Now that the Ausdollar has slid below parity, that adds up to $21,556,915.85, or more than twice the reported budget.
