Through the winter months, some highly distinctive festivals can challenge screen creators with some surprising approaches and great ideas.

Between the Palace national festival program and the mainstream city film festivals are specialist festivals which offer real opportunities for screen creators to challenge themselves and learn new approaches. Think Flickerfest and the St Kilda Film Festival for shorts, the AIDC Festival and Antenna for documentary, and APSA for its inspirational regional focus.
