The documentary makers have not quietly accepted the loss of several categories in the AACTA awards for 2013. Instead, the Sydney activists have generated a protest letter under the OzDocs banner, and called for consultation.

The documentary makers don’t really have a clear community body of their own. The Australian International Documentary Conference is building its role, but is not a policy group, while factual members are a minority in both the Australian Directors’ Guild and the Screen Producers’ Association of Australia.
