The History in Place project is using tablet-based filmmaking to entice primary school students into exploring museums, using the device of making short films about the objects. The prpject was presented at a session of the Museums Australia National Conference on Friday.
The project is a collaboration between Arts Victoria, the History Teachers Association of Victoria, and the Heritage Council, in response to the National History Curriculum. For the first time, that curriculum sees history with a formal place in primary school teaching.
