Hollywood Visual Effects artists have finally exploded over a slew of industrial issues, are running a very digital protest, and looking for allies around the world. However, they are also blaming the Australasian industry. Dominic Case explores the reasons and the rage.

When the Jaws theme swelled up at the Oscars ceremony last week, cutting off Bill Westenhofer in the middle of his acceptance speech, it seemed – to the audience – like standard Oscar management practice – he’d had his moment, there were lots of winners to get through, and after all, this was only the Visual Effects award, not one of the major ones.
