This session was one of the inspirational ones of AIDC 2013. Several filmmakers who are very used to traditional financing routes are making the alternatives work for them. ‘Alternative’ is not a way of filling in the gaps, but another powerful strategy which offers benefits of its own.

Cathy Henkel was inspiring as always and said they had raised the budget for her film The Rise of the Eco-Warrior, about animal rights, the environment, and young people, and not a cent had come from traditional sources. Again, good going.
