Pat Lovell, redoubtable producer, and a pioneer of both the industry resurgence in the 1970’s and the role of women in the screen sector, has died. According to the Daily Telegraph the ultimate cause was liver cancer.

By the time Pat Lovell arrived at the ABC in the early 1950’s, having failed to get into university from her Presbyterian boarding school in Armidale, she had survived the slow turmoil of a disintegrating family, and the loss of three of her beloved brothers and sisters to illness.
