It’s official. Television remains at the centre of Australia’s domestic screen activity according to the latest Australian Multi-screen Report, released early December by Oztam, the television ratings agency owned (you guess it) by the commercial TV networks. The report is based on data on the viewing habits of audiences for the third quarter of 2012.

In addition, the uptake of digital TV receivers is now approaching 100 per cent. The latest Oztam figures show that 97 percent of Australian households in the five mainland capitals now have either standard definition or high definition (HD) reception capacity, with 95 percent having HD reception capacity. Cheap and easy to install set top boxes compliment the ready supply of fully digital flat screen TV sets, and the government is on track to complete the digital switch-over by the end of this year.
