Brewing for an entire year, the Australian Academy of Cinematographic and Television Arts, once called the AFI, has decided it needs to properly honour the craft of television.
As of today, AACTA is calling for no less than ten additional categories to accomodate television. The call emerged in February 2012, when director Peter Andrikidis and editor Deborah Peart sent a proposal which had already been endorsed by the four relevant industry guilds – with the others soon to follow – with producers from eleven major production companies providing statement of support, and 39 individuals.
