Today, the twelfth of December 2012, SBS formally turns on the national service of its NITV channel. Once again we return to iconic Indigenous country to acknowledge significant moments in our intercultural history, as the button is pressed at Uluru.

The formal history of Indigenous television in Australia started with the creation of CAAMA, the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association based in Alice Springs in 1980.
