The Australian Directors Guild has objected to the nomination of a reality television producer in the director category for the 2013 AACTA Awards, and called on organisers to withdraw his nomination.

Michael McKay has been nominated for Best Direction in Television for Amazing Race, Episode 1 (Seven). The nomination pits him against Glendyn Ivin (Beaconsfield, Nine), Daina Reid (Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War, Part 1, Nine) and Jeffrey Walker (Jack Irish: Bad Debts, ABC1).
