The Sapphires has failed to ignite the UK box office, despite a strong marketing campaign from distributor eOne and a 233 screen release.

The film opened with £256,000 (A$393,000) in its first weekend, averaging £1,098 (A$1,685) per screen, but plummeted 73% to a mere £484 per screen over the weekend of 16-18 November (UK box office works on a three day weekend). The total weekend box office take was just £69,649 over 144 screens, according to UK Film Council figures. It’s total box office take stands at £579,570 ($889,000).
