Peter Meakin has resigned as Seven’s director of news and current affairs, though he will continue as a senior advisor. The ripples spread down the organisation.

Meakin has been in news and current affairs television for almost forty years. The first thirty was at Nine, where he became director of news and current affairs as long ago as 1987. In 2003, he left Nine for Seven, and endured controversy both for his drink-driving convictions and his judgement in outing NSW government minister David Campbell.
