According to the annual Screen Australia Drama Report for 2011-12, the spend in 2011-12 was $623m, and feature production figures look bouyant – climbing to $296m, or 47% of the total. While one year is just one year, and the figures vary wildly, the trend is still pretty positive.

The scale of the bounce is revealed by the totals for the last three years – $739m, $497m and $623m. Much of this occurs because expenditure is dated to the first day of principal photography, by international convention.
