Let us help you make your film……we will even give you the money!!!!!
Raw Nerve is a short film production initiative presented by Open Channel with the financial support of Screen Australia. It is aimed at providing emerging filmmakers with the production and cash budget to produce a high quality short film on digital video.
Who can apply to Raw Nerve?
Raw Nerve is for emerging filmmakers. You may have made student, self-funded and corporate films or you may be an experienced crew member. We are also open to aspiring filmmakers with limited or no experience. Filmmakers who have already produced or directed a short film which has been made with full or partial financing from a government film financing agency are not eligible.
What sort of projects is Open Channel looking for?
Open Channel is looking for projects, which exhibit a strong authorial vision, a compelling story, and fresh, interesting characters.
The project can be drama, comedy, documentary, mockumentary, experimental, or any hybrid of these forms you can come up with. Be aware that because we’re not offering animation facilities, we will not be accepting projects which are strongly animation based.
Because the project has such tight production and post-production parameters, we will select projects which we feel confident can be realised within these parameters. This means that the projects must be based on a simple, yet compelling, idea.
What is Open Channel offering?
Open Channel is offering a mixture of in-kind support and a cash budget. The in-kind production and post-production facilities will give extensive production advice in script development and production mentoring, post production will include off-line edit facilities.
Each project will receive a cash budget, which will be predominantly expended on sound mixing, grading and mastering costs.
Each project’s budgetary needs will be negotiated on an individual nature.
Marc Gracie will be the Executive Producer and mentor on this years Raw Nerve.
We are looking forward to receiving another record number of applicants.
Entries close Thursday 12th April 2012 at 5pm.
