The commercial launch of the Interim Satellite Service as part of the National Broadband Network (NBN) will provide eligible rural and regional Australians with access to enhanced broadband services, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, said today.

Welcoming today’s launch by NBN Co, Senator Conroy said the interim service, which is being provided through a number of retail service providers, would be in operation until the long term satellite solution became available for launch in 2015.
