With 21 dead people, 17 general sport supporters, four advocates in the area of hearing impairment, two television people and one from the film sector, it is fair to say we have not promoted our heroes very successfully. Maybe they have all been gonged, or stayed stubbornly alive.
However, it is a pleasure to report that Geoffrey John Atherden, stalwart of the Australian Writers’ Guild, creator of Mother and Son and Grass Roots, and contributor to both Sons and Daughters and Auntie Jack, is now a Member of the Order of Australia.
