Bruce Beresford – “Josh Hartnett definitely wants to do this”
Rather than ‘What Lie Did I Tell?’, Bruce Beresford’s version of true stories from the screen trade reads more like ‘What Lie Was I Told?’
Written in diary form from October 2003 to July 2005, he tells a somewhat cautionary tale of capricious movie execs refusing to read scripts, actors signing for roles just so other actors can’t, wildly inappropriate casting decisions (remember what Douglas Adams said about zebra crossings?), and producers swearing blind that they have the $60 million to make the film when they don’t have a brass razoo.
